We are going to give Google, Blogger and/or AdSense until May 1st to get back to us with information on restoring the archive before we plow ahead with "clownalley.net 2.0" and begin again.

So, for those of you asking, either way clownalley.net will be posting anew by May 1st.

Whether it's back full-time, part-time or what remains to be seen.

Did "Google, Blogger and/or AdSense" have an explanation or just a shoulder-shrug?
I hope you can get back the archive.
But, still the show will go on.

Separate issue: what would it take, capacity wise, to host backup or mirror-archives, say hosted by interested volunteers?
Just thinking out loud.

That's the spirit, Pat. Never give up. I appreciate the effort you've put into this site, and enjoy looking in on it every couple of days. I hope you can get all your stuff back.

I was looking for a "rebuilding" idea for you and found this: if there is anyone who subscribed to Clown Alley with their RSS reader, that person would still have all your posts, and could copy and paste and email them back to you.

Also, each of your Clown Alley pages is separately cached in Google (without the pictures). You can look up certain pages in Google, click the little "cached" button below the search result, and then copy and paste the text into your new site.

I know this sounds heartbreakingly insane to have to reconstruct your blog. I just wanted to let you know that you CAN reconstruct, if you want to put the pieces of the puzzle back together.

I had no idea about the google cache thing, but it does indeed work.

Here's one of the many clownalley.net caches:

Hi Pat
Anonymous above is correct, I subscribed to Clown Alley with my RSS reader, and I still have all your posts, let me know if you want me to copy them for you.
